Heike T. is the first of one child born to Jakob Heijen Gerdes Smidt (1791 Germany -1881 IL) and Antje Weerds (1799 Germany -1830 Germany). When her father married Frauke Degrave after mother died, she had 7 new half-siblings. She married Martin A. Ulfers (1826 Germany -1908 IL) on 25 Mar 1858 in Ogle county, IL. To this union were born 4 children Jacob (1859-1949), Annie (1861-1946), Ira (1864-1943), and Martin (1868-1948).
