Floyd L. Henderson, 86, died Wednesday afternoon at his residence in Darby.

He was born July 22, 1899 in Monterey, Iowa, one of 12 children of Robert and Arvilla Andrews Henderson.

He moved to the Bitterroot in 1919 and worked as a lookout for the Forest Service in the early 1920's.

On May 1, 1923 he married Gladys Thompson in Hamilton. They had three daughters and were later divorced.

During World War II he worked in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. After returning to Montana, he worked at Findels Lumber Mill in Missoula.

Later he worked as a machine operator for the Forest Service. Since his retirement in 1957, he had resided in Darby.

In 1943, he married Sarah Gorman in Phillipsburgh. She preceded him in death in April 1980.

Also he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Lila Kamura of Missoula, Helen McIntire and Dixie Buck, both of Darby; one stepdaughter, Helen Tripp of Darby; one brother Clell Henderson of Los Angeles, Calif., a sister, Geneva Brown of Darby, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-children.

Graveside services willbe conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Lone Pine Cemetery in Darby. Friends and family will meet at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Henderson, Glenn Wright, Don Brown and Bud Ruark.

Services are under the direction of Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.

Friends may call Friay from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon at the chapel.

The family suggests memorials to the Darby Ambulance Service, c/o 1200 Westwood Dr., Hamilton, 59840.
