Mary Ellen Castell [sic] died last Saturday at the home of her son, Milford Castell, southeast of Aurora, after having been permitted to dwell upon this earth eighty-three years and twenty-three days. Deceased was born April 4, 1829, in Somersett county, Pennsylvania [sic]. May 15, 1847, she married to John Castell, who departed this life forty-seven years ago next July. To Mr. and Mrs. Castell were born seven children, of whom five survive their mother. They are Matilda Hutches of Custer county, Nebraska; Milford Castell of Aurora; Minerva Milliard of Surprise; Alpheus Castell of Custer county and Jennie McCain of Rapid City, South Dakota. The other two children, Mary Crosby and Marshall Castell, died some years ago. Mother Castell was for a long term of years a resident of Hamilton county. She united with the church in early childhood and to the end of her long and useful life she lived a faithful and conscientious christian. The funeral was held from the Lysinger church Tuesday afternoon, where a large number of friends and neighbors by whom the departed was much beloved gathered to pay their last respects to the aged remains of this good woman.
