Joan E. Bova, 69, of 109 Vine St., Warren, died Monday morning, February 2, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center, Erie after an extended illness.
She was born January 16, 1940 in Bemus Point, N.Y. to the late Dr. Luke H. and Helen Patterson Boyd. She resided most of her life in Warren. Joan was a 1958 graduate of Bemus Point High School and earned her registered nursing degree from Jamestown Community College.
She was employed as a Psychiatric Nurse with Warren State Hospital, retiring from there in 2002 after 27 years service.
She was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Warren Senior Center and was a volunteer with the Warren Public Library Association. She was known for her love of her family and her commitment of making her children the center of her life.
She is survived by her five children, Casey Casel and her husband, Jess, of Jamestown, N.Y., Kerry Buchanan and her husband, Rich, Peter J. Bova Jr., Jane Highhouse and her husband, Jim, all of Warren, Elizabeth Lasecki and her husband, Kevin, of Russell; three siblings, Luke Boyd and his wife, Pat, of Virginia, Sue Klussman and her husband, Bruce, of Naples, Fla., Matthew Boyd and his wife, Helen, of Phoenix, Az.; ten grandchildren, Matthew, Jake and Sarah Casel, of Jamestown, N.Y., Cory and Randy Buchanan, of Warren, Ethan Benedict, of Youngsville, Emma and Claire Abplanalp, of Warren, Derek and Chloe Lasecki, of Russell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark and John Boyd.
