Services for Venie Barham Yates will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Yates, 87, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Neshoba County General Hospital. Mrs. Yates was born in Madden and lived in Philadelphia for her adult life. She was a devoted wife and mother and a retired bookkeeper with Barham Paint and Glass. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Philadelphia. She was the daughter of Roscoe and Alda Barham. Survivors include a son, Dr. Joe Yates of West Point; two daughters, Margaret Yates of Little Rock, Ark. and Maria Yates of Meridian; several nieces and nephews; and her loving and devoted caregivers: Earnestine Triplett, Mary Frances Collier, Phyllis Mae Boler, Christine Carter and Emma Jean Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. (Buck) Yates. The family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39073. The family wishes to thank the physicians, nurses and staff of Neshoba General Nursing Home and Neshoba County General Hospital. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
