Howard D. Holloway, March 2, 1924 - July 1, 2000, Howard DeVerl HOLLOWAY, 76, 29 East 100 North, died at 4:30 a.m.Saturday at his home. Born in South Bend to Elven E. "Peck" and Eva Ruth BEGHTEL HOLLOWAY, he married Edna B. COLLINS on Feb. 16, 1947 in Lafayette. She survives. Mr. Holloway was a truck driver for Studebaker Corp., South Bend, and a welder for Fulton Metal, Rochester. A U.S. Army tank commander in the Pacific Theater during World War II, he was a lifetime member of Lake Manitou Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rochester, a Golden Eagle in the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 852, and a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 814, Bourbon. Survivors include three daughters, Sharon and husband Charles ALDERFER, Rochester, Sheila [HOLLOWAY] and Vickie HOLLOWAY, both of Akron; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosemary and husband Fred McGLOTHIN, Rochester; two brothers, Marvin HOLLOWAY and Bernie and wife Grace HOLLOWAY, all of Rochester; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Carol Sue HOLLOWAY, two sisters, Wanda MORROW CHALK and a sister in infancy, and five brothers, Russell [HOLLOWAY], Walter [HOLLOWAY], Lester "Sonny" [HOLLOWAY], Theodore [HOLLOWAY] and Gerald HOLLOWAY. Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Junior BOSE officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Citizens Cemetery, Rochester. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday or one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Fulton County Hope Hospice.
