Peder was the son of Haldor Haldorsen Bystølen (1798-1869) and Lisbeth (Elizabeth) Pedersdatter Elje (1794-1871), immigrant residents of Rock Dell Township. He married Asjer (Esther) Pedersdatter on 16 August 1869 in Mantorville.
Died in Vernon township at the age of 53y 1m 6d of Brights Disease and Heart Disease; a widower.
