Carmen C. Abijaoude 1913 - 2008 Carmen C. Abijaoude, beloved mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, fell asleep in the arms of the Lord on December 31, 2008. Carmen was born in Las Palmas Gran Canarias, Spain, on March 28, 1913. She was the youngest among twelve siblings. As the wife of Francis R.E. Abijaoude, Sr. she traveled with her family from Spain to Africa, Lebanon and finally settled in Austin. Carmen's goal in life was to keep all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren together, which she achieved. Carmen helped her husband and her children establish Phoenicia Bakery & Deli, and many of her recipes are still made and followed at the Bakery. The family would like to thank all their customers and friends who were concerned about Carmen throughout her illness. Carmen was preceded into Heaven by her husband Francis R.E. Abijaoude, Sr. and her daughter Blanca Rosa. Carmen leaves behind her sons, Francis, Jr. and Malek, Sr; daughters, Maria Carmen and Margarita; 11 grandchildren and her 13 great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Our Lady's Maronite Catholic Church, 1320 E. 51st St., Austin; Friday, January 2, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady's Maronite Catholic Church, on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 10:00 a.m.; Monsignor Doctor Donald J. Sawyer as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum, 3650 S I-H 35, Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carmen's Memory to Our La
