Mrs. Alexander was born September 12, 1886 in Cabarrus County to William P. and Alice Benson Rogers. She was a graduate of Linwood College in Gastonia and a school teacher in the Gilead Community of Mecklenburg County. She was a very active member of Gilead A.R.P. Church for many years. In more recent years, was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.
She married J. Wilson Alexander on a Wednesday, April 26, 1911 at eleven o'clock at the home of her parents in Coddle Creek, North Carolina. They had four sons: Pressly, James, Eugene and J. W. (Jr.). Two daughters Laura (Morris)and Lois (Bell). There were also 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
