Ashland - Eva Mae Smith Riles, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Briarcrest Extended Care in Ashland. She was born May 25, 1918, to Henry Westmoreland and Laura Elizabeth Watson Westmoreland. She was a homemaker, and artist, and a member of the Church of Christ at Ashland. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ashland Church of Christ with Nathan Guy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include a son, James. W. Smith of Lepanto, Ark.; a daughter, Mary Helen Montgomery of Olive Branch; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Eva married Curtis Smith July 29, 1939. In the 1980s, after Curtis died, she married John Riles. Her nickname given to her by her dad was "yeed."
