FRANKLIN — Elsie Moore, 85, of Franklin died at 11:23 a.m. April 8, 2009, at The Medical Center.

The Franklin native was born May 17, 1923. She was a daughter of the late Ben Bland and Myrtle Beard Bland.

Funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday at Elevated Baptist Church, with burial in Shady Rest Cemetery. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. today and is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with family today at Franklin Funeral Home.

Survivors include three sons, Robert and James Moore, both of Franklin, and Virgil Moore of Morton, Miss.; four daughters, Mattie Kirby and Dolly McKinney, both of Bowling Green, and Linda McCormick and Sara Moore, both of Franklin; a sister, Anne Goodnight of Bowling Green; a half sister, Betty Nolan of Franklin; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.Elsie Luevinia Bland was born May 17, 1923 to Ben and Myrtle (Beard) Bland in Simpson County, Kentucky. She was one of nine children. She was first married to Monroe Temple and they had one child. She later married Lawrence Grey Moore. There were thirteen children born to this union. Two of the children died during childbirth and one died during infancy. Her husband died in 1962 leaving her to raise their children alone. Her inner strength and love for her family got her through lots of hardships. She always kept her home clean and intact. Her children were always very well cared for. Mrs. Elsie did domestic work and retired from ironing for other people when she was 75 years old. She was a wonderful and very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. Even when her health failed her, she still had a wonderful sense of humor and a love for life. She was truly an exceptional lady.
In addition to her parents, husband, and three of her children, she was preceded in death by three sons:Raymond, Corneilus, and Oscar;two daughters:Jimella and Ida Mae; seven grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Elsie passed away the morning of April 8, 2009. Her passing leaves a huge void in the lives of those who knew and loved her most. She will forever be loved and her presence will always be missed.
Left to cherish her memory are seven of her children, one devoted daughter-in-law, 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
