June 5, 1944 as commodore commanded Task Force 126, Follow-Up Force B which brought troops to Omaha Beach, Normandy, France. Troops were landed under fire; rear admiral; as of 1979 judge at Dallas, Texas; June 24, 1961 died at Monterey, Calif. and buried in Golden Gate National Cemetery at San Bruno, Calif., Plot: Section S Site 4-A; wife Ysabel Ysabel Rising Edgar (1895 born in Oregon-1968 died); Dallas Edgar, 1921 born in South Carolina.
