Dorothy Maxine Peters passed away on July 24, 2002 at her home in Carlton surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born in St. Francis, Kansas July 22, 1923, the daughter of Everett and Twila Scheller. She married Charles M. Peters Sr. on September 1, 1941. Because of Charles' military career in the Air Force, they moved 22 times. In the 1950's on a visit to her parents, they went on a Sunday drive, and she spotted a three story Victorian house with a "For Sale" sign out front. She bought the home on the spot. Finally, a home which she called her Camelot. When they retired, they made their home in Carlton in the 1970's. They had their 50th wedding anniversary. She has shared with her family many times "I had 7 wonderful children. I was married for 57 years. I had a wonderful life, and I will never complain." She is known for being positive, her smile and being kind and compassionate to all. Her family and friends considered her one of those rare beings. Surviving are: John Peters, Son, Riverside CA., Steve Peters, Son, Saratoga, CA, Matt Peters, Son, McMinnville, OR, Mark Peters, Son, Newberg, OR, Carol Orton, Daughter, Yamhill, Or, Roberta Peters, Daughter, Kailua, HI, Charlene Peters, Daughter, Kailua, HI, 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Retired Lt. Col. Charles M. Peters Sr. on December 30, 1998. Services will be held Monday, July 29th at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Macy and Son. Rosary will be held Sunday, July 28th at 6:30 pm in the Chapel of Macy and Son. Viewing will be held Sunday, July 28th from 12:00 pm to 6:30 pm in the Chapel of Macy and Son. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, McMinnville, OR. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Muscular Dystrophy or Hospice c/o Macy & Son Funeral Directors.
