Alonzo Fay Welch was born October 15, 1829 in New York State to Fanny and Russell Welch.

By 1837 Russell and Fanny had moved their family to Flushing, Genessee, Michigan, purchasing property on the Michigan-Toledo Strip.

In Flushing, Alonzo met a young lady named Lucy Anna Reed, also from New York. It is assumed that they married in Flushing. Lucy Anna was born January 16, 1849 to Orpha (Livingston) and Jerry Reed.

Alonzo and Lucy's first two sons, Edward and Cory, were born in Michigan, but by the time their son Frank George was born in 1864, the Welch family was living in Skokie, Illinois. Their daughter Josephine was born in 1865 back in Michigan, but by 1870 the census and the birth of their son Alonzo Richard finds the Welch family living in Des Moines, Iowa. Effie May was also born in Iowa in 1871; however, when their son Roy Eugene was born in 1875, they were in Colorado. Their youngest, Elsie was also born in Colorado in 1877.

Alonzo passed away at Beaver Creek Ranch in Colorado on April 27, 1909 of pneumonia and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Pueblo, Colorado in Lot Direction W, Lot 40, Block B, Grave 4.

Lucy Anna died in February 21, 1921 in Beaver Park, Colorado and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Lot Direction W, Lot 40, Block B, Grave 2.
