Ottilia "Tillie" Schadler, 91, of Cashmere, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at her apartment in Epledalen. She was born May 15, 1912 near Gackie, North Dakota to Christian and Sophia (Diebert) Speidel. She lost both of her parents at an early age and completed the 8th grade at a country school house.
She married Ben Schadler in 1930. In 1943, they moved with their 2 children to Tacoma, Washington, where she worked at Boeing and a mattress factory. In 1945, they moved to Dryden, Washington where they worked in the orchards and fruit warehouses. They moved to Cashmere on Mission Avenue in 1949, where she resided until she moved to Epledalen Assisted Living about 1 1/2 years ago. She worked at Cashmere Fruit Exchange for 25 years as a sorter.
Tillie was a member of Eastmont Community Church and was a great help starting the church and served as historian for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Alvina Goehner and her husband Walt of Dryden; a son, Marvin Schadler and his wife Stella of Pasco; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and many friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben in 1974; 9 brothers; and an infant son, Andrew.
To know her was to love her. She enjoyed people and visiting.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Cashmere Cemetery on Wednesday prior to the services of commemoration being held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Betts Funeral Service in Wenatchee, WA. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Memorial contributions may be given to Eastmont Community Church or Special K Ranch, PO Box 479, Columbus, Montana 59019. Services under the care of Betts Funeral Service.
