Phyllis Anne Stafford, 77, of Norfolk died Friday, April 25, 1997 at Heritage of Bel Air.

A memorial service is pending. There will be no visitation as she donated her remains to the Nebraska Anatomical Board for research and educational purposes.

Stafford was born October 24, 1919 in Gosper County, Nebr. to Henry and Rhoda Hanson. She graduated from Holbrook High School and was educated at Kearney State Teachers College and Dana College in Blair. She taught school for 32 years in Nebraska, including schools in Sumner, Creighton, Red Cloud and Arlington. On Feb . 14, 1942, she married Bill W. Stafford. They first lived near Fort Riley, Kans. After World War II, they lived in several Nebraska communities where they both taught school. They moved to Norfolk in 1988.

Survivors are her husband, Bill; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kay of Norfolk; a granddaughter Sarah Baker and her husband, Bryan of Papillion; a grandson, Eric Stafford of Lincoln; a sister, Betty Dewhurst and husband Don of Sebastian, Fla., and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother and one sister.

Memorials may be directed to the Phyllis Stafford Scholarship Fund, c/o Arlington Community Church, Arlington, Nebr. 68002.
