Mrs. Emma Ewing DeMange,58 well known society leader of Bloomington and Decatur died suddenly in her home in Bloomington yesterday. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Ewing Sr. who was a member of the third generation of the pioneer Ewing family member of which have been leading civic and social affairs in Decatur for many years.
She lived in Decatur from the time of her birth,May 5,1885 until the marriage Oct. 26,1916 to Ralph C. DeMange after which she made her home in Bloomington. She had taken part in many amateur music clubs in Bloomington for ten years prior to her death. She was president of the club for two years.
She was in Decatur frequently after her marriage and to visit her family and to attend musical and social events. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian church in Bloomington.
Beside her husband she leaves a son,Ewing DeMange who is with the Marines stationed at Princeton University,Princeton,daughter Mary Louise who is in school in Gulfport, Miss,,sister Mrs.Corwin Johns of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her mother,Mrs.C.A. Ewing,Sr in 1937,sister Mrs. Margaret Ewing Winchester who died in July 1941,brother,C.A.EwingJr,who died in 1942.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Goodfellow Memorial funeral home in Bloomington.
