BILOXI-Nello J. Battaya, 58, of Biloxi died Friday, June 13, in Birmingham, Ala.
Mr. Battaya was a lifelong resident of the Coast and was a retired maintenance manager for Beat 5, Harrison County. He was a member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge 120 in Biloxi, Joppa Temple in Gulfport, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and St. Louis Catholic church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clara Bella Michel Battaya of Biloxi; four daughters, Mrs. Ida Mullen of North Biloxi, Ms. Lorraine Battaya, Mrs. Patricia Shoemaker and Mrs. Cynthia Asher, all of Ocean Springs; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Janet Louise "Be Be" Williamson of Biloxi; two stepsons, Wilson Lee Noble of Biloxi and Rena Joseph Noble of California; his father, Joseph Battaya of Biloxi; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Lamey of North Biloxi and Mrs. Daisey Bierie of Minnesota; two brother, Elvin Battaya and Alfred Battaya, both of Biloxi; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday night from 6 until 10 at the Howard Avenue chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi, with recitation of the rosary at 7:30. A prayer service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel followed by burial in Serene Memorial Gardens.
