Born to Fred and Anna Huchton Herr. He was a Staff Sargent serving with the Infantry Division. He served in Dutch Harbor and the Aleutian Islands. He had survived 13 bombings and almost as many shellings. He took a leave home then returned to duty at Camp Hood for Infan. Rec. Training. In the training he had to cross a stream. He slipped and fell hitting the back of his head on a stone causing instant paralysis from the neck down. He died 4 days later.
