Daughter of G. Benton & Rochelle (Russell) Nicholson. Married Averette N. Mattocks, Sr.
Marcelle Nicholson Mattocks, age 89, of 901 South Halstead Blvd., Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003 in Guardian Care Nursing Home. She was born in Alamance County, NC, daughter of the late Ben and Rochelle Nicholson and the widow of Averitte Nash Mattocks, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1984. Mrs. Mattocks was a 50 year residence of Reidsville, NC, a retired school teacher, she was the creator of hand made originals by Marcelle, which is hand made ceremic dogwood jewelry.

Mrs. Mattocks is survived by a daughter, Pat Trimpi and husband John of Elizabeth City, NC; a son, Nash Mattocks, Jr. and wife Ruth Shauer of Wirtz, VA; four grandchildren, John, Anne, and Ben Trimpi, and Susan Paul; and three great grandsons. She was predeceased by a sister, Iva Nicholson Broze and a grandson, Matt Mattocks.

A memorial graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, January 12, 2003 at 2:00 pm in Chatam Friends Meeting Cemetery in Snow Camp, N.C
