Norine was born on December 27, 1915 in Cedar City, Utah to Calvin Christian and Vivian Stapley Pendleton.
She married Melvin McFarlane on June 28, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand-mother, excelling as a mother and homemaker. Throughout her life, she gave great service to those around her. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of and love for our Savior Jesus Christ and his Gospel, as exemplified by the life she lived.
Norine is survived by four children and their spouses, her son-in-law Tom May, Spokane; Melva and Darrel Dixon, Salt Lake City; Dan and Mary McFarlane, Spokane; Gayle and Roger Summerhays, Salt Lake City; and Gary and Annette McFarlane, Spokane; 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, brother Alan and wife Beverly and sisters-in-law, Virginia, Delpha, and Beth, also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Mel, daughter Jan, brothers Ken and Dee, and her parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the Butler West Stake Center, 1845 East 7200 South, where friends may call one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery, 3115 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South), Cottonwood Heights.
