Mr. James Jarrell Sweat served as a private in the company of Ware county militia commanded by his father, in the Indian War, serving four different terms of enlistment, viz: Aug. 31st to Dec. 31, 1838;
Aug. 19th to Nov. 18, 1840; Nov. 19, 1840 to June 1, 1841; and then Oct. 6th to Dec. 3, 1841.

James Jarrell was born March 26, 1823 in Emanuel county, son of James A. Sweat by Miss Nancy Jarrell. He was legitimatized and name changed from Jarrell to Sweat by Act of the legislature approved Dec. 20, 1826.
