Mrs. Alice Ruth Justice Callahan, 89, of Somerset Court, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Gaston County, Mrs. Callahan was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and a former member of Davidson Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Luther Lineberger and Susan Etta Whiteside Lineberger; stepfather, James Hamrick; husbands, George W. Justice and Ralph C. Callahan; daughters, Dorothy Justice, Mary Sue McSwain and Patsy Ann Blanton; brothers, Charles Lineberger, Able Lineberger, William L. Lineberger, Ralph Lineberger; and sister, Lucille L. Fraser. A precious and beloved grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, she is survived by two grandsons and their wives, Scott and Beverly McSwain of Chapel Hill and Brent and Sherri Blanton of Lexington; grandson, Jeffrey J. McSwain of Los Angeles; two granddaughters and their husbands, Vickie M. and Don Wright of Lawndale and Micki M. and Steve Padgett of Kings Mountain; great-grandchildren, Kelly McSwain of Wilmington, Harrison McSwain of Chapel Hill, Caleb, Kalie and Cory Blanton of Lexington, Phillip Wright of Lawndale; Chris Speight of Charlotte and Jay and Meredith Speight of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; one great-great-granddaughter, Olivia M. Speight of Murfreesboro; one son-in-law and his wife, James and Virginia Hamrick of Shelby; two sisters, Mary J. Smith of Shelby and Frances Queen of Matthews. She is also survived by two stepsons and their wives, Brevard and Barbara Callahan and Steve and Doris Callahan of Shelby; stepsons, Charles Callahan and Eddie Callahan, both of Shelby; stepdaughter and her husband, Carolyn and Walt Price of Shelby and their families.
