After a 26 year Air Force career, serving from 1943 through 1971, during which he served in Europe during WWII and on Air Force One from 1961 through 1971 as a flight engineer during the Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon administrations. After retirement from the Air Force Marthell, he managed a municipal airport in Winchester, Va. for 10 years. Marthell Traylor married Myrtis Huddleston on October 20 1945. Their loving union lasted until his death, 64 years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by one son, Marthell Traylor Jr., who died while serving his country in Viet-Nam.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtis H. Traylor of Laurel; son, Jon Traylor of Laurel; two daughters, Marsha Traylor Click of Orlando, Fla., and Karen Traylor Hilliard of San Ramon, Calif.; grandchildren, Marsha Katie Lorenzo, Andrew Hillary, Stelleda Taylor-Friend, Sussana White, and Troy Traylor; great-grandchildren, Oliver Traylor-Friend, Susanna White and Ryan White; brother, Wayne Traylor of Laurel; and sister, Annie Jeanette Blackledge of Laurel.
The family asks that donations be sent to The Christian Food Mission in lieu of flowers.
Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. Sunday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of the arrangements.
