A resident of Monroe for 61 years, Cecil Edward McGee died Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home. A retired carpenter, he was born in Clarks, LA August 2, 1918. C.E., as he was popularly known, graduated from Olla Standard High School in 1936 before joining the CCC at Camp Swan. He was 88 years old and a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.
Visitation will be at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where he was a long-time member, from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Thursday, February 22 and from 9:00AM until religious service at 11:00AM on Friday, February 23. Services will be conducted by Rev. Errol Montgomery. Interment will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Annetta McGee of Baton Rouge, LA and Jerry and Elaine McGee of West Plains, MO; brother and sister-in-law, J.P. and Lois McGee of Monroe; brother-in-law, Louis C. McQueen of West Monroe; five grandchildren, Stephanie Blair, Merideth Magnuson, Amy Griffin, Scott McGee, and Clayton McGee; seven great-grandchildren, Kortney Queener, Alexis, Elizabeth, and Devin Magnuson, Lindsey McGee, Seth Watson, and Austin McGee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emilie S. Behler McGee; parents, Jesse Preston and Effie Belle Young McGee; and sister, Elaine McQueen.
Pallbearers will be Clayton McGee, Scott McGee, Jim McGee, Bill Hester, Paul Moore, and Richard Price. Honorary pallbearers will be George Mouk, Kent Brown, Brents Witty, Bill Carroll, and John W. Powell.
