Jeremiah "Jerry" married Martha Hemphill. Their family was reared in Ohio Co., WV, in the fellowship of the "Tent" and later Roney's Point U.P. Church. They had seven children, who lived to adulthood; Mary E., Jane, Daniel Watson, Thomas, Margaret, Sarah H., and Tabitha.

Jeremiah was named for his uncle Jeremiah, s/o Adam. Jerimiah inherited the family farm from his father Daniel, Sr. and lived most of his life there.

After the death of his first wife Martha in 1869, Jerimiah married again. He married first Keziah Hall (1810-1883) in 1874. Following her death of 15 Nov. 1883 in OH Co., WV, he married Mary Gammell of Putnam, Muskingum Co., OH in 1884. She was born in Scotland.
