Memorial Services were held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 16, 1990 at the First Baptist Church in Hordville, Nebraska. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.
OBITUARY: AF "Shorty" Salmon
AF "Shorty" Salmon, the son of Thomas and Lizzie (Detamore) Salmon, was born on a farm north of Harvard, Nebraska, on June 13, 1915, and passed away at Hastings, Nebraska, on June 14, 1990, at the age of 75 years and 1 day.
He attended country school at Franklin District #12 and later farmed with his parents.
On February 21, 1936, he was united in marriage to Luella Delano, at Grand Island. They farmed until 1943, and then worked for area farmers until he started working for the Farmer's Union Creamery in Aurora until it closed down. He then began working as an orderly in hospitals in Aurora, and San Diego and La Mesa, California, moving there in 1971. In January of 1980, they moved to Kearney, residing there 5 years, and after retirement they moved to Polk.
"Shorty" was a member of the First Baptist Church in Polk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a half-brother, Clyde Miller, a half-sister Mildred Kline, and a granddaughter Dawn Arneta Day.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Luella, of Polk; 5 sons, Steve of Hordville, Rex of San Diego, California, Alvin of Grand Island, Danny of Central City, and Alfred of San Diego, California; 3 daughters, Pauline Day of Phoenix, Arizona, LuAnne McDonald of Phillips, and Venida Carlstrom of Polk; 1 sister Agnes Derr of Grand Island; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
