Known to her friends and family as Ann, only about 5' or 5'1". A very hard working woman, during World War II (from 1943 - 1945) worked at the Umatilla Ordnance Depot where she handled war supplies for the troups, among them 50 pound bombs for the air corps, as it was known then.
She was a very kind person and was always very quick to help anyone in need. Altho her family was often in need themselves, she never turned away a hungry person who might appear at her door during the Great Depression and helped many people get the services from welfare they were entitled to before WWII. So well thought of in Umatilla County, Oregon, that when she died, the church was full to overflowing and the high school in Stanfield closed for the day so the kids could attend.
