Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in First Methodist Church in Mertzon with the Rev. Gordon Miller, pastor, and M. H. Carr officiating. Burial will be in Shewood Cemetery under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lackey was the former Miss Lena Hodge, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. R. A. Hodge. Her father was an early-day Presbyterian minister. She was born Sept, 30, 1878, in Buffalo Gap, and her family moved to Irion County in 1888.
She and Mr. Lackey were married Sept 22, 1901, at the old Landon Hotel in San Angelo. They made the wedding trip from San Angelo to Sherwood in a buggy.
For four years the couple farmed, but Mr. Lackey had homesteaded a section land, and when more school land was opened to the market in 1902 they were awarded three more sections about fie miles northeast of Sherwood. They moved to that ranch in 1903.
In the 1940s, the Lackeys bought a large house in Mertzon. Mr. Lackey died March 5, 1963.
Mrs Lackey was a member of the First Methodist Church in Mertzon.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Aubrey DeLong of Mertzon; one son, Mark Lackey of Santa Cruz, Bolivia; one sister Mrs. Earnest Dameron of Hobart Okla.; six grandchldren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pall bearers will be Henry Clark Jr., O. J. Estes Jr., Preston Dudley and M. H. Wagner, all of Mertzon, and L. O. Barton and Hayden Ellis, both of San Angelo.
