He was living in a nursing home in Guthrie the last couple years of his life. I don't remember the name but I'm sure it was the Swambergers Rest Home as you have identified.
Grandpa lived with Aunt Inez's family for some time after Grandma died. In early 1946 Dad left a church in Sweetwater OK and we moved to Guthrie and Dad took a job at a greenhouse so we could take care of Grandpa. We lived on West Warner Street in Guthrie. Dad was elected as the pastor of a church in Terral OK in 1947 and Grandpa moved with us to Terral. In 1949 we moved again that's when Grandpa went to live at the nursing home in Guthrie. I didn't understand it at the time, but I remember Uncle Leonard and Aunt Lillian came to Terral although I just thought it was a visit of family. But that is when they took Grandpa to the nursing home. I remember visiting him a time or two when he lived at the nursing home. At that time Dad was pastoring a church in Roosevelt OK and we didn't get back to Guthrie that often.
During the time Grandpa lived with us he was bedridden so he would send me to the store to buy some item he wanted. I was always happy when he did because he would give me a nickel which I would spend on candy. Your note made all those memories come back to me. Those were times when a spent a lot of time listening to wonderful stories of his life.
