Ted was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada, and Alaska as well as to various other regions. A special project for him was the Fish Dinners at the Saunders County Museum, a successful fundraiser which he originated. He also enjoyed bowling. Ted and Ruth farmed for a number of years after their marriage and Ted was proud of being one of the first local farmers to have a corn picker. Later, Ted and Ruth owned and operated the Coast to Coast Store in Wahoo. He grew up in a large family, and often joked that theirs was a family of ì5 Ω childrenî.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors include his wife Ruth of Wahoo; son and daughter-in-law Marvin and Jacki of Oregon; daughters and sons-in-law Patricia and Roger Poppe of Cook NE, and Jeanie and Warren Cline of Lincoln; brother and sister-in-law Lawrence and Colleen of Wahoo; sisters and brother-in-law Clara Nelson of Wahoo, Hildur Benting of Las Cruces NM, and Rosalind and Stanley Dokulil of Wahoo; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:30 pm Monday March 29 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kent Morse officiating. Burial will be at Sunrise North Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday 2-7 pm with the family present 2-4 pm at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Saunders County Museum.
