Funeral services for Ernest Deakin, 65 years old, were held from the chapel of the Jones Funeral Home Thursday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. Rev. O.J. Rainey, vicar of St. John's Episcopal Church conducted the services. Burial was in Globe cemetery.
His body was found hanging from a pipe on the back porch of his home at Broad and Yuma streets, March 15. A coroner's jury returned a verdict of death from strangulation, self inflicted, when an inquest was conducted by Clyde Shute, justice of the peace and ex-officio coroner last Wednesday. He had been in ill health for several years and had become despondent over his illness.
Born in Eureka, Calif., he had been a resident of Globe for 20 years. He formerly was employed by the Globe-Miami Motor Company and as a caretaker for a hotel.
He is survived by a sister in St. Paul, Minn.
