carl Nelson was my father. I was only 9 when Herman passed away, but I remember him. He was a carptener by trade. Herman and Bonnie divorced and he never remarried. He lived in Vinita until his death. Carl had 3 children, curtiss, sharon and carl D. Richard had 4 children. Thelma Has3 children bonnie, Ronnie and Gary. Thelma married George Lane all of Vinita. Leon has 2 children all of vinita,tulsa.
Hermans parents were Samuel Jackson Abbott death 11-9-1942 Bluejacket cemetery. Mother Sarah Jane Moore 1863-1948 also at bluejacket cemetery in bluejacket Oklahoma. Hermans grandparents were Elisa abbott and Martha Crain.
Herman was born in Newkirk Oklahoma, his family moved to bluejacket when he was around 5 years old.
Vinita Dailey Journal Sept 12 1957 Herman Edward Abbott 60 yrs old a Vinita carpenter died at 1:45 a.m. in a local hospital following a long illness. Herman born july 5 1897 in Newkirk Oklahoma had spent some time in Texas and California, but lived almost all of his life in Craig Co. Oklahoma. Survivors include three sons carl of Norwalk California, Leon of Tulsa, Richard of Vinita, and one daughter Mrs George Lane of Tulsa, two sisters Gertrude Mercer and Mamie Voyles both of Vinita four brothers Jess, Homer and Jim all of Vinita and Clarence of Denver Colorado and 11 grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. sunday in the Luginbuel Funeral Home. Rev. Ross Atkins pastor of Church of God will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
