Served in war of 1812 from Indiana. Was illiterate. Headed Militia company in 1811. They marched to the Blue River and destroyed some Indian towns. Received a gold headed cane at the Pioneer Association in 1885. At his death, age 96, he was the last survivor of the War of 1812 in southeastern Indiana. See War of 1812 Pension record.
entered war service 9/18/1813 on Brookville as a private in Capt. John Bryson's Co. Discharged Nov 1813, Re enlisted Sept 18, 1814-Oct 1814 applied for Bounty land in 1851
