Lucinda is the child of George Pease Dailey and Rebecca Arble.

Mrs. S.E. Cox, a long time resident of this city and community, passed away at 2:30 last Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Bancroft. She had been in failing health for the past several years. On July 21st she had the misfortune to fracture her hip in a fall and in her frail condition was unable to withstand the shock of that injury and failed rapidly until death claimed her.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in this city at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Robert H. Forrester. Interment was made in the Grace Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Lucinda Cox was born at Canton, Jackson county, Iowa, August 1, 1848, and died in Hawarden August 1, 1930 - on her 82nd birthday. She grew to womanhood in eastern Iowa and in 1864 was united in marriage with Sulveneous E. Cox at DeWitt, Iowa. After living in Jackson county for a number of years they moved onto a farm south of Ireton where they resided for six or seven years, later moving onto the Cox farm in Union county, S.D., six miles west of Hawarden. They retired from active farming and moved to Hawarden about twenty years ago. Six sons and five daughters were born to this union, two sons having preceded their mother in death. Charlie Cox of Alcester died in 1928 and Louis Cox, also of Alcester vicinity, passed away early this year. Her husband died April 23, 1918. The surviving children are George Cox of Hawarden, Harvey Cox of Hecla, S.D., Mrs. Rose Hildebrand of Albany, Ore., Jesse Cox of Alcester, John Cox of Simpson, Mont., Mrs. John Edson of Alcester, Mrs. Will Newton of Hawarden, Mrs. Ernest Bancroft of Hawarden, and Mrs. Pat Graham of Salix, Iowa. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Cox was always a hard working woman, devoted to her family and ever ready to make the greatesr sacrifices for her loved ones. Even with her advanced years her intellect remained keen and she was much interested in the people with whom she came in contact and in the affairs of the day. After the death of her husband she continued to reside in her own home for a number of years but since her health began to fail a few years ago she has made her home with her children.
She leaves many friends outside the family circle who deeply mourn her passing.

Note: In addition to her own 11 children, Lucinda also raised her husband's niece Clara Susanna Hamilton who was the daughter of Henry Hamilton and Mary Cox. Clara married Emil Lindenman. Her FAG # is 62796822.
