James Barker, 72, died at 10:30 am Sunday at the Lenox Rest Home. Services were held Tuesday at the Bender Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Duckett officiating. Burial was in the Lenox Cemetery.
OBITUARY
James Richard Barker, son of Stephen and Elizabeth A. Barker was born March 17, 1886 in Scotland Co., Mo. and passed away at the Lenox Rest Home April 27, at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 10 days.

He was married to Sarah Jane Hocker March 20, 1907. To this union were born 5 children: Ethel L Spring of Lenox, Ellis of Clarinda, Elmer and Jesse of Lenox and Luell of Sharpsburg.

His wife died August 18, 1916, leaving five small children. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters, one grandchild and one great grandchild. He leaves to mourn in addition to his children, two sisters, Manda Hocker of Greentop, Mo. and Mollie Hayes of Burlington, one brother, Frank of Sharpsburg, ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

Mr. Barker spent his early life in Missouri. Following the death of his wife he moved his family to Taylor County in the vicinity of Lenox where he lived until his death.
