Michael P. Aberle, 68, Bismarck, died July 4, 1999, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Church of the Ascension, Bismarck, with the Rev. Marvin Klemmer officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home. A vigil and prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. tonight. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Michael Peter Aberle was born Jan. 19, 1931 in Aberdeen, S.D., the son of Mike J. and Catherine (Thomas) Aberle. Mike was raised and educated in Trail City and Mobridge, S.D. He joined Montana-Dakota Utilities Co., Mobridge Division in April of 1949 as a lineman. He entered the United States Army in February 1952, and served a year in Germany. After his discharge in 1954, he resumed his job with MDU. On Feb. 21, 1955, Mike married LaVerne Kuehl in Selby, S.D.
Mike left MDU in 1963 to work for Main Electric and Morgan Power. In March 1973, he rejoined MDU in Bismarck as a lineman. In 1975, he became Linecrew Foreman and in 1980, he transferred to the General Office and was promoted to Transmission Construction Supervisor, a position he held until his retirement in November of 1994.
Mike was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, IBEW, for 31 years. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his "coffee" friends. He loved to do yard work and was very proud of his yard.
He is survived by his wife, LaVerne; one daughter, Theresa Aberle, Bismarck; six brothers and five sisters-in-law, James and Helen, Kent, Wash., Joseph and Arlene, Miles City, Mont., Leo and Nina, Lexington, Mich., Stephen and Kay, Lakewood, Colo., Nicholas, Aberdeen, S.D., and Timothy and Sharon, Rittman, Ohio; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Dorothy Bickel, Humbolt, Iowa, Pauline and Eddie Berens, Selby, S.D., Lucille and Orvil Kuehl, Selby, Delores and Gary Neumiller, Golden, Colo., Marjorie and Lawrence Vojta, New Albany, Ind., and Patricia Smith, Duluth, Ga.; four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Leo and Mavis Kuehl, Clarkfield, Minn., Eugene Kuehl, Wenatchee, Wash., Tilmer and Arlene Kuehl, Britton, S.D., Arlo Kuehl, Bismarck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
