Anna Louise Leibel, the eighth oldest of the eleven children born to Edward Leibel and Catherine Bender, was born on November 14, 1896, near Elgin, Nebraska. She grew up on the family farm there and received her education in a local rural school.
She stayed at home with her parents and cared for them. When they retired from the farm in 1926, she went with them to their new home in Elgin.
After the death of her father in 1940, she went to Edward’s IL, where she found work. In 1956, she went to Gregory, SD, where she worked at the Gregory Hospital until she was unable to work any longer.
She then went to a Rest Home to stay, but worked part time in Burke, SD, and then at Bassett, NE. Finally, on February 27, 1974, she entered the nursing home in Bassett, where she gradually became senile.
