James Monroe Easter, age 92, of Amelia, went to be with the Lord on September 5, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Edna; sons, Thomas and Floyd of Amelia; daughters, Eva Sue Rector of Blackstone, Josephine Smith of Gloucester, Peggy Perry of Gaithersburg, Md., and Sarah Johnson of Richmond; brother, Fletcher of Florida; sister, Lula Smith of Amelia; 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Visiting at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St., Amelia, on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m., where services will be held on Thursday, 11 a.m., with interment following in Salem United Methodist Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Hospice of Farmville Hospital or the Amelia Rescue Squad.
