Ira C Scott, 69 years old, of 424 West Dicks Street, Lebanon, a veteran of World War I who fought at the battle of Marne, died late last evening at the Indianapolis Veteran's hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been in poor health for the past two years.

He served with the U.S. Army from March 29, 1918 to January 31, 1919 and in AEF from May 5 to November 11, 1918.

During his younger years, he operated a thrashing machine in Montgomery county and came to Lebanon in 1920 where he lived with his mother and brother. He had resided here since.

Born May 29, 1891, in Montgomery county, he was the son of Archelaus and Mary Catherine (McMullen) Scott. He was married April 21, 1923 to the former Effie Brown in Crawfordsville, who survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Robert E and Charles William Scott, both of Lebanon; two daughters, Mrs. Retha Louise Dale of Lebanon and Karen Sue Scott, at home, a brother, William Scott of Lebanon, and several grandchildren, while six brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
