Peter J. Brusati Passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2007 at the age of 82. Dearly beloved husband of the late Alberta R. Brusati (Lucia); loving father of Christine, Celeste (Jennifer Robertson), Peter (Sandy) and Victoria Vandenbusch (Steven); much loved grandfather of Joseph, Genevive, and Maria Brusati, and Michael, Erin and Stephanie Vandenbusch. Peter was a lifelong resident of the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from St. Joan of Arc School in 1939, St. Ignatius High School in 1943 and Golden Gate College in 1953. After serving in the U.S. Army, he worked for Standard Building Co., Inc. from 1947 to 1987. From 1958 to 2001 he served with the Carl Gellert Foundation and the Celia Berta Gellert Foundation as secretary, director and foundation manager. Over the years he took great pleasure in his extensive service to a variety of non-profit organizations, including: St. Matthew's School and Church in San Mateo, St. Ignatius College Preparatory, Notre Dame de Namur University, Seton Health Services Foundation, the University of San Francisco, Old St. Mary's Cathedral, the St. Francis Memorial Hospital and Immaculate Conception Academy. Peter was extremely proud to serve as the president of the St. Ignatius Father's Club, and was especially honored to receive the Christ the King Award, the highest recognition given to St. Ignatius alumni. His generosity in its many forms, his love of travel and socializing with friends, his sportsmanship, and his extraordinary will to live will be remembered lovingly and sorely missed. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Church, 650 Parker at Fulton, San Francisco, December 27, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Peter's memory to Saint Ignatius College Preparatory, 2001-37th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94116; or Little Sisters of the Poor, 300 Lake Street, San Francisco, CA 94118.
