Died at his late home in West Lenox, Sunday evening, at 5:30 o’clock, Robert Foster Anderson. A gloom was spread over the little city when it was whispered that one who had been sick for so many years and had so many times rallied, had passed into the great beyond. In his death we fully realize the loss of a good neighbor and friend. All through his sufferings he tried to be bright and winning in his ways, so that many were friends to him. He never failed to give his friends a welcome as they came to his bedside. While he has passed away from the earth life, he will still live in the hearts as a kind neighbor to those who knew him best. Robert was the third son of John and Sarah Anderson of Alexis, Ill. He was born May 27, 1856, and died August 7, 1910, aged 54 years, two months, and eleven days. He was married to Margaret J. Fermin, January 17, 1878 at Alexis, Ill. At once he came to Washington, Iowa, and resided there until 1883, when he removed to Lenox, where he has since made his home. To this union were born two daughters, Minnie and Cora, both of whom are married and living in their own homes. Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn an aged father and mother, six brothers and one sister. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the United Presbyterian Church, of which deceased had been a member of more than thirty years. Rev. Mr. Davidson officiated, assisted by Rev. Mr. Orth. The casket was covered with most beautiful floral designs, gifts from his family and kind neighbors, who knew him so well. He was laid to rest in the Lenox cemetery, and that little city shares its sympathy with the bereaved family. A Near Friend.
