Stephen Linkhorn, familiarly known as "Doc," one of the best known stock buyers of Guernsey County, died at his home on North 6th Street...after an illness of about two weeks. Deceased was born at Byesville and was 56. A wife and large family are left behind to mourn his death.

...Mr. Linkhorn grew to manhood in Byesville, going through the common schools, and in 1870 was married Ida M. Selby. To them were born seven children: Towner B., of this city, Chase, living at home, Mrs. Alex Morrison, city, Mrs. Fred Turner, city, Mrs. Stephen Clark, Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. A.F. Russi, Zanesville, and Mrs. Charles Scott of Alliance. All of the children were at his bedside at the time of death.

Deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Linkhorn, both dead. Siblings: Will and Joe of near Byesville, Mrs. Margaret McCreary of Byesville, Mrs. Josiah Wiley, Byesville, and Mrs. Gus Engle, Byesville.

For the past fifteen years or more he has been engaged in the commission business at Pittsburgh. Besides this he was also engaged in buying horses and cattle and shipping them to the eastern markets.

During the past twelve years the family resided in this city. The cause of death was spinal meningitis.
