In addition to his father and mother he was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Batts Murray, two brothers, Robert Lee Batts and Bishop John W. Batts Sr.; two grandsons, James Batts and Andre Batts, and one step-daughter Deborah Russell.
Floyd was a truck driver for many years. He retired from McCarthy, Jones & Woodard Steel Co. After retiring he raised vegetables and sold them. He was known as the turnip green man in Murfreesboro and Nashville. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed cooking his favorite meals.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Shirley A. Batts; six daughters, Shirley (Johnnie) Batts, Sharon Batts, Karen Batts, Teresa (Jeffery) Jones, Shae Russell and Wanda Russell; three sons, Floyd Edward Batts Jr., Karl Batts and Keith Batts; five step-children, Cynthia Jones, Cutrese Batts, Robbie Butler, Barbara Russell and Jerry Russell; four sisters, Odesser (Richard) Murray, Argaither Lesile, Ella Greer, Glady (John) Smith, two brothers Burnice (Rachel) Batts and Melvin Batts; thirty three grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Lillie F. Batts, Sylvia Batts and Ella Batts; devoted friends, Mary Batts. Virginia Tyson, Myra Benford, Ocydean Richardson, Tommy Jackson. Robert Manning and Richard Wells; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
