He was born March 20, 1938, in Fairfield County, and was the son of the late Edward an Lulu (Young) Speakman.
Gary was a member of the First Church of God in Lancaster and a U.S Army Veteran. He was retired from the J.C. Penny Columbus Distribution Center after 19 years of service, and was the owner and operator of Speakman Excavating for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy (Carter) Speakman; four daughters,Vickie (Andy) LeVeck of Kahoka, Missouri,Hnnah (Roger) Ross of Lancaster, Lori (Gary) Highfield of Junction City, Ohio and Laura (Gene) Cupp of Laurelville, Ohio; grandchildren, Ashley (Shawn) Malone, Megan (Brandon) Martin, Kye Ross, Amber LeVeck, Jarrod Cupp, Cory Murray, Adam LeVeck, Erica Highfield, Sierra Murray, Jordan Cupp, Lauren Highfield, Milton (Carolyn) Speakman;and sister, Annabelle Bethel, both of Amanda,Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
A grave side service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Amanda Township Cemetery with the Rev.William Means officiating. There will also be a Celebration of Life services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Church of God in Lancaster.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions made to the James Cancer Mellanoma Research, c/o James Development Office, 300 West 10th Avenue, Suite 518, Columbus, Ohio 43210 in Gary's memory.
Arrangements are being handled by Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda, Ohio.
