Three children are known to be buried in the George Family Cemetery; Lafayette, Daniel, and Zorada. Likely daughters Sallie & Rosa are buried here too.

November 15, 2008 the Halifax Chapters of the S.C.V. (Sons of Confederate Veterans) and the U.D.C. (United Daughters of the Confederacy) held an Iron Cross Memorial Service in Ashfords honor.
