Sikeston - Raymond L. "Gene" Aufdenberg, 75 years old, of Sikeston, formerly of the Burfordville-Cape Girardeau area, died Monday at his home here.
He was born Feb. 16, 1910, at Burfordville, the son of Henry A. and Agnes Kipping Aufdenberg.
He attended schools in Burfordville and Cape Girardeau, moving to Sikeston in 1927, and graduating from Sikeston High School in 1929.
For 28 years, he owned and operated the Conoco Oil Co. here. He was then an oil jobber for the Gulf Oil Co. and Phillips Petroleum Co., retiring in 1976. He was then associated with the Aufdenburg Equipment Co. here.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church here. He was past charter member of the Sikeston Rotary Club and past member of the Chamber of Commerce. During World War II, he served with the Home Guard here.
On Dec. 6, 1930, he married the former Geneva "Jo" Andres.
She survives, along with a son, Jerry Aufdenberg; a daughter, Mrs. Lucy Jo Dealy; sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Ramey and Mrs. Frances Clark; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A son and a daughter preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery.
