Lee Roy Bird, 70, of Liberty died Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at home after an extended illness. He was born July 2, 1936 in Garrison, Texas to parents Howell Lee and Margaret Ross Bird. He attended Garrison High School and had lived in the Liberty area for over forty years where he worked as a mechanic. Mr. Bird enjoyed gardening and playing with his grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2006 at Norris Cemetery with Rev. Larry Craig officiating. Services are under the arrangement of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas.

Mr. Bird was preceded in death by his parents, family members: Lois Ellis, Morris Bird, Polly Bird, Ouida Coker, Marie Raymond, Eddie Stovall, Lamurl Sears, Loretta Fpanos, Jerry Bird, Eli Rich, Lizzie Rich, and Hollis Rich.

He is survived his wife: Mary Bird of Liberty; daughter: Julia Weisinger and husband Terry of Liberty; son: Michael Bird and wife Margaret; brothers: Gary Bird and wife Linda of Hammond, Louisiana, Dick Bird and wife Jerry of Garrison; sisters: Mattie Laura "Ted" Burke of Austin and Beleuhia Bronner of Fair Oak, California; grandchildren: Amy Weisinger, Amber Weisinger, Kyle Bailey and wife Ashley, Brandy Bird, Regina Crouthers and husband James, Land Brown and husband Terry, Julie Peak, Tonya Tanton, and Michele Hawkins; great-grandchildren: Cassie Fregia, Shane Hawkins, Brad Hawkins, Sylvia Brooke Crouthers, Rhiannon Bailey, and Lauren Bailey; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Thursday evening 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
