A US Army Officer in World War II, he was initially stationed in Manilla, Philippine Islands. When the Japanese Army attacked the Philippines in 1941-1942, he was transferred to the Bataan Peninsula, and was captured in April 1942. He was forced to make the infamous Bataan Death March, and was imprisoned at the Cabanatuan POW camp, where he died in 1942.
