Dr. Charles E. Branch, 100 of Piper City, IL, died at 2:50 A. M., Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Greenbrier Senior Living Community, Piper City following an illness of several years.

His Memorial Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 6, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Piper City with Rev. Elizabeth Reis officiating. Inurnment will be in the Brenton Cemetery, Piper City. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 6, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Piper City.

Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church of Piper City, Ford - Iroquois Hospice or to the Donor's Choice.

Dr. Branch was born on June 10, 1908 in White Heath, IL to Thomas A. & Effie (Deland) Branch.
His childhood was spent in White Heath. He attended rural grade school in White Heath and graduated from Monticello High School.
Dr. Branch attended Illinois Wesleyan University, University of Illinois and University of Illinois Medical School. He interned at the University Hospital in Chicago.

As a Physician and Surgeon he established his practice in Piper City in 1934. He retired in 1978.

Dr. Branch was married in 1933 to Alice I. Strait in Chicago. His second marriage was to Edna L. Kennedy in Piper City in 1943. She survives. Surviving children - one daughter - Esther Annette Miner of McAllen, TX. One son - John Douglas &(Peggy Sue) Branch of Fairbury, IL. Three grandchildren - Edward &(Jacintha) Miner of Iowa City, Iowa, Joshua &(Jennifer) Branch of Janesville, WI., and Kendra Jannell Branch of Champaign, IL. Four great grandsons - Ssekabembi Miner, Tanner, Logan and Collin Branch. One brother - Paul Branch of White Heath, IL. Pre-decedents - parents, first wife, and one brother - Leslie Branch.

Dr. Branch was a member of the United Methodist Church of Piper City.

He served in the United States Air Force from January 1953 thru January 1956, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Dr. Branch was a member of the Gibb Post 588 of the American Legion in Piper City. Other memberships include - 50 year member and Past Master of Piper City Lodge 608 A F & A M., Bloomington Consistory, Peoria Shriners, Eastern Star of Ford County, Illinois State and American Medical Societies, Rotary International, the American Iris Society, the American Hemerocallis Society, he won many Daylily Awards including the Stout Award and Bertram Farr Award.
In 2002 Dr. Branch was elected to the Monticello High School Hall of Fame.
